How Long Do New Kitchen Cabinets Take? From First Visit to Delivery

“How long will it take?” is one of the first questions we hear. The honest answer depends on a few choices you make along the way, but most cabinet projects follow the same basic timeline.

Step 1: The consultation

Once you reach out, we book a time for the showroom van to come to your home. In that one visit we measure, design your layout and put together your quote. That’s a big time saver: with a traditional showroom, measuring, design and pricing are often spread across several appointments and a week or more of back-and-forth.

Step 2: Approve your design and order

When the design and quote look right, a deposit secures your order. Taking time to review your design is worth it, because changes after ordering can add cost and delay. Double-check appliance sizes, the hardware you want and any special pieces like a pantry or wine rack.

Step 3: Delivery, usually two to four weeks

Our cabinets are in-stock semi-custom, not built from scratch after you order, which keeps lead times short. For most orders, cabinets are delivered to your home in about two to four weeks. When they arrive, we go through the delivery with you and check every box against your order, so any issue is caught before installation day rather than halfway through it.

Step 4: Installation

We connect you with trusted local installers and help you get the install on the calendar. How long installation takes depends on the size of your kitchen and what else is changing. Swapping cabinets in the same layout goes faster than moving walls, plumbing or electrical.

Don’t forget countertops

If you’re getting new countertops, they’re usually measured (or “templated”) after the base cabinets are installed, then fabricated. Plan for that gap between cabinet installation and a fully finished kitchen.

What can slow things down

  • Modifications: modified sizes, special finishes or unusual pieces can extend lead times.
  • Back-ordered items: certain colors or accessories occasionally take longer to ship.
  • Design changes after ordering: even small changes can restart part of the process.
  • Other trades: plumbers, electricians and countertop fabricators all have their own schedules.

How to keep your project on track

  • Have everyone who’s deciding at the consultation, so the design can be approved quickly.
  • Choose your appliances before ordering cabinets.
  • Book installers and countertops early, once your delivery window is set.
